STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Chapter of The Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) will hold its monthly meeting at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, in the Visitors Center of Schmeeckle Reserve, 2419 Northpoint Drive in Stevens Point. New members are always welcome.
The purpose of CCL is to create the political will for a stable climate. To do this, CCL members write letters and meet with members of Congress and their aides. They also sponsor public lectures.
At monthly meetings members discuss recent events and plan future actions. There is also a monthly teleconference with other chapters. The guest speaker for this month’s teleconference will be Julia Roberson, Vice President of the Ocean Conservancy, who will talk about the affects that climate change is having on the oceans.
