Obituary: Kenneth Harry Nitka

STEVENS POINT- Kenneth (Ken) Harry Nitka, age 69, of Stevens Point passed away peacefully on May 6, 2018, after a two-year battle with cancer surrounded by his loved ones.  Ken was born January 1, 1949, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Harry and Bernice Nitka. He attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs in 1967.

After graduating from high school, Ken pursued his career in plumbing with his father’s business (Harry J & Son).  He moved to Arizona in 1975 to continue his passion for plumbing.

Ken loved NASCAR racing, fishing, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with his family and his 14-year-old cat Star.

Ken is survived by his mother Bernice, a son Tom Kitowski, nine sisters Barbara Nitka, Colleen (Dan) Kluck, Bonnie Nitka, Cheryl (Bill) Jakusz, Laurie (Steve) Toepel, Jackie Zdroik, Lottie (Ken) Klish, Becki (Dean) Bubolz, Tami (Fred) Rzentkowski, and 2 brothers Jim (Garolyn) Nitka, Bob (Barb) Nitka,26 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews along with his very special companion Debbie Larson.

He was proceeded in death by his father Harry, two brothers Tommy and Jeff, and sister Beverly (James) Opperman.

Per Ken’s request a private burial will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.  A memorial will be set up in Ken’s name at a later date.
