STEVENS POINT – CREATE Portage County in partnership with almost 30 downtown businesses and organizations will host the 13th Annual ArtsWalk celebration on Friday, May 18 from 5 PM to 8 PM in Downtown Stevens Point.

This free event brings together more than 40 local visual artists to display and sell their work in downtown storefronts, galleries, and restaurants. The event will also feature live dance, poetry, and music performances along Main Street and nearby locations.

Three downtown galleries are participating in this year’s experience, with the Q Gallery showing “Stones and Gems in Art,” the Riverfront Arts Center showing “Fiber Friends Fabrications,” and the Smith Scarabocchio Art Museum showing the “Dissen’s Guest House” exhibition.

Following tradition, the event will close with the Mass Guitar Incident, featuring scores of local strummers playing four songs together in the Matthias Mitchell Public Square. This year’s bandleader, Cory Sosnovske, has selected “Three Little Birds,” “Do Wah Diddy Diddy,” “Learning to Fly,” and “Proud Mary” as the featured songs. Video tutorials and chord sheets are available online and musicians at all levels are encouraged to participate.

For a map of participating locations, artists, and performers, or to access MGI tutorials and chord sheets, please visit www.createportagecounty.org/experiences.
