Letter: Thanks to many for success of Portage County Cultural Festival

To the editor and the community:

I want to take this opportunity to share my gratitude for an incredible group of young people that played a critical role in this past weekend’s Portage County Cultural Festival. My responsibility on the festival committee is to recruit, arrange for and contract with those that entertain us throughout the day. The entertainers are primarily dance ensembles and musicians.

We have a wonderful business in town, Soundworks Systems, that supplies all of the equipment needed – but we need knowledgeable people to run the five stage sound systems. The SPASH stage crew, recruited by Scott Ahern, did an amazing job at keeping the stages running smoothly. I am so appreciative of all that they did before and during the festival. We literally could not have done it without them.

Kudos to the students. Many thanks to Scott Ahern – a wonderful teacher and mentor – and a much deserved thank you to the parents for raising such respectful and fine young people. These kids made my day!

Thank you!
Joan Johanson, Entertainment Chair, Portage County Cultural Festival
