Roy Shafranski, 81, passed away May 12, 2018, after an 18 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Roy was born April 18, 1937, to the late Adam and Theresa (Rinka) Shafranski, the seventh of nine children.

Mr. Shafranski attended St. Peter Elementary School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and Central State College (UWSP).

Roy’s professional career was at Rosholt High School where he taught English and French. He was also yearbook adviser for many years. Roy was invigorated by his students zest for learning and the youthful exuberance of the high school scene.

A faithful member of St. Peter Parish, Mr. Shafranski served on all of the parish committees and also acted as historian. In his younger years, Roy was a leader in the Mushkodony District of the Boy Scouts and served on the Stevens Point Catholic School Board. He was an active member of the Catholic Cemetery Association.

Lifelong interests included vintage autos, classical music, English literature, gardening and culinary experimentation. His favorite travel destinations were the West Coast and Southwest.

Roy was an endearing, entertaining and cherished uncle.

Mr. Shafranski is survived by David (Gladys) Shafranski, Carol Kubsiak, Joan Ross, Mary Ann (Joseph) Weisbrod, sister-in-law Lucille Shafranski and Mary Jane Shafranski, 25 nieces and nephews and their children.

Roy is predeceased by his parents, Brothers; Donald, Gregory, Clifford, Sister Catherine Stelchek and brothers-in-law Richard Stelchek and Ronald Kubisiak.

Services will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on Friday, May 18, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial for Roy at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Joseph Visuvasam will preside. A private family burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.

The family thanks Dr. Hamid Rezazedeh, Aspirus Cancer Center, Heartland Hospice and the staff at Atrium Stevens Point for their compassionate care.
