Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition to Be Held Annually

STEVENS POINT — The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra is pleased to begin holding the Betty Frost Jenkins Young Artist Concerto Competition on an annual basis, and invites aspiring young musicians in grades 9 through 12 (or equivalent) during the 2018-19 school year to submit applications. The competition will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The mission of the competition is to provide a high-quality performance experience for the finest young musicians from central Wisconsin, and to assist them in pursuing advanced study. The winner of the competition will receive a $500 cash scholarship made possible through the Betty Frost Jenkins Young Artist Concerto Competition Fund, and will perform as the featured soloist with the CWSO on the December 1st and 2nd concerts under the direction of Dr. Patrick Miles.
Applicants (or their primary music teacher) must reside within the following geographical boundaries: Highway 2/Michigan (north), Highway 21 (south), Highway 13 (west), and Highway 45 (east). Now in its 70th season, the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra is affiliated with the College of Fine Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
