Rosholt, Pacelli, A-B track send qualifiers to Sectionals

The Rosholt High School, Pacelli Catholic High School and Almond-Bancroft High School boys and girls track teams each advanced qualifiers to Sectionals at the WIAA Division 3 Regional Meet at Rosholt Monday, May 21.

The Wild Rose boys team won the Regional Title with 188 points over Rosholt (133) and Pacelli (77), with Almond seventh (29), while the Wild Rose girls won the Regional Title (158.5) over Rosholt (121.5) and Pacelli (120.5), as Almond was ninth with five points.

The top four finishers in each event earned a trip to the WIAA Division 3 Sectional at Marathon Thursday, May 24.

Senior Sawyer Fleming won the long jump and the 800 run, and also teamed up with senior Dausen Anderson, junior Zach Lepak and freshman Damian Dulak to win the 4×800 relay to lead the Rosholt boys.

Junior Adam Rzentkowski won the 1,600 run and finished second in the 3,200 run and second in the 800 run, while Dausen Anderson (1,600 run), sophomore Reese Anderson (400 dash) and the 4×400 relay team (Dausen Anderson, Reese Anderson, Fleming and freshman Josh Zick) each placed second.

Junior James Glisinski (discus and shot put), Zick (400 dash), sophomore Matt Ross (3,200 run) and Lepak (800 run) each finished third, while junior Bryan Cook (1,600 run) and the 4×100 relay team (freshman Nolan Maes, freshman Connor McKay, sophomore Dominic Betro and junior Travis Hintz) were fourth for the Rosholt boys.

Sophomore Jordan Zdroik won the 3,200 run and the 800 run to lead the Rosholt girls, while Isabelle Gemza won the shot put and senior Jillian Filtz won the discus.

The 4×800 relay team (sophomore Jenna Trzebiatowski, freshman Amber Studzinski, freshman Logan Krogwold and Zdroik), and the 4×400 relay team (sophomore Madalyn Simonis, junior McKenzie Stalter, Studzinski and junior Amanda Wanta both finished second; Filtz (shot put), Madalyn Simonis (300 hurdles), Trzebiatowski (3,200 run) and the 4×100 relay team were third (freshman Macey Check, junior Anna Lorbiecki, senior Amelie Kutzensteiner and sophomore Emma Kluck); and Simonis (100 hurdles), Logan Krogwold (3,200 run) and junior Kayliah Meronk (1,600 run) also earned trips to Sectionals with fourth-place finishes.

For the Pacelli boys, sophomore Luke Ferro won the high jump, while junior Xander Schmitz, senior Hayden Jurgella, senior Andrew Blanker and senior Daniel Mitch teamed up to win the 4×200 relay

Junior Ben Lundgren finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles, while Jurgella was fourth in the triple jump.

The Cardinals advanced two more relay teams, as the 4×100 relay team (Schmitz, Jurgella, junior Richard Zupan and Daniel Mitch) was second and the 4×400 relay team (Blanker, Jurgella, Daniel Mitch and Schmitz) finished third.

Junior Karah Kluck won the long jump and finished second in the triple jump, and senior Shannon Leary won the 100 hurdles and placed fourth in the long jump to lead the Pacelli girls.

Junior Grace Engebretson, junior Grace Van Handel, freshman Maya Kunze and senior Jenelle Higgins teamed up to win the 4×800 relay while Engebretson, Van Handel, Higgins and senior Laura Mitch combined to win the 4×400 relay.

Senior Brooke Schroeder was second in the high jump and third in the discus, while freshman Sami Miller (200 dash) and the 4×200 relay team (Miller, Laura Mitch, Higgins and Van Handel) placed second, freshman Julia Jakusz (high jump) and Engebretson (800 run) were third, and freshman Chrissy Baron (discus) came in fourth.

Sophomore Jackson Beggs placed second in the 200 dash, and sophomore Elijah Kollock finished fourth in the 3,200 run to advance to Sectionals for the Almond boys.

Meanwhile, senior Kara Cisewski placed fourth in the 100 dash to advance to Sectionals for the Almond girls.

The first four finishers from each event in Sectionals will advance to the WIAA Division 3 State Meet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2.
