City band to present first concert of season

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point City Band will present its first concert of the summer season at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 6, in the Pfiffner Pioneer Park band shell along the Wisconsin River. The band, under the direction of Kathryn Kawleski, has over 70 members this season.
“Timely Tunes” will be the theme as the band starts off its season with a variety of selections involving some aspect of time, including “The Syncopated Clock”, George Gershwin’s “Summertime”, “A Touch of Broadway”, “Hollywood Milestones”, “Selections From Mary Poppins” and “Pop & Rock Legends: Chicago”. “Man of the Hour” by Henry Fillmore will be the music for the weekly children’s march.
Michele’s Restaurant and Catering of Stevens Point will provide food for purchase before and during the concert. Concerts are free and held Wednesday evenings through August 1. Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the gymnasium at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Ave.
