STEVENS POINT –The Humane Society of Portage County will be hosting Walk for Wags, Sunday, June 3 at the Pfiffner Pioneer Park, 1100 Crosby Ave, Stevens Point, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A special thank you goes to our “Great Dane” sponsor Team Schierl Companies.

This fun community event is an effort to raise money to benefit the Humane Society of Portage County to help us provide lifesaving care to thousands of animals this year. New this year is Mayor Mike Wiza, who will be our emcee for the day. We will have many activities during Walk for Wags that will make the day exciting:

  • 1.5 mile walk
  • kids games
  • music
  • pet costume contest
  • basket and prize raffle
  • caricature artist
  • vendors
  • pet photographers
  • food and beverage

For a minimum pledge of $50 you are eligible for a Walk for Wags t-shirt and lunch.  There is no charge to attend the additional festivities, so come with or without a dog as everyone is welcome.

You can register by going to http://www.hspcwi.org/Walk2018/index.html and downloading the registration/pledge forms, register online or go to the Humane Society of Portage County at 3200 Iber Lane in Plover and sign up there.

There are also sponsorship opportunities and vendor space still available for more ways to participate and help. Our mission is to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect and overpopulation of companion animals while seeking adoption of these animals into compatible homes, and teaching humane awareness and respect for all life, thus helping to build a better community.
