Obituary: James “Jimmy” E. Wendlandt

James “Jimmy” E. Wendlandt, 76 of the town of Harrison, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.

He was born on March 1, 1942 in the town of Lancaster, Grant Co., WI, son of the late Elmer and Agnes (Migel) Wendlandt.  On July 15, 1967 he married Josephine Bruski in Rosholt, WI.  She preceded him in death on August 29, 1999.

Jimmy worked for Hatley Veneer, and later for the Waupaca Foundry, retiring from there after 37 years.  He loved hunting, fishing, and enjoyed collecting hubcaps and buying cars.  He was a reliable and dependable person who was always happy to help others, including giving many rides to friends.

Survivors include his son, Lenny (Wanda) Wendlandt of Scandinavia, and Sally Quantance of Wittenberg; two brothers, John (Susan) Wendlandt of Scandinavia, and Gene Wendlandt of Northland; his sister, Nancy Bailey of Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Parish of Galloway.  Fr. Augustine Bentil will officiate.  Burial will in the Parish cemetery.  Visitation will be on Friday from 3 PM until 7 PM at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, concluding with a time to share memories.  The family will receive friends on Saturdayfrom 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church.

The family would like to thank the Portage Co. Sheriff Dept., the Rosholt area first responders, EMT’s, fire dept. and ambulance service.  They would also like to acknowledge the emergency room staff at St. Michael’s, Stevens Point, and Spirit Ambulance Service; the nurses and doctors at Ascension St. Clare’s ICU – especially Stacy, Amanda, and Bob.
