Here is a rundown of local events and activities happening that you won’t want to miss.

Thursday, June 7

Live Music: Emmitt James – 6PM
-Head over to Pfiffner Park for Stevens Point’s 160th Birthday Party, as well as live music from artist and successful UWSP graduate Emmitt James.

Special Olympics Wisconsin State Summer Games – 8AM – 3PM (June 7-9)
-Enjoy the very best in Special Olympics competition as the state summer games kicks off on June 7. This annual event is held at the UWSP University Field, 2100 Maria Drive.

Friday, June 8

Live Music: Husky Trumpet – 7:30 p.m.
-Catch live blues/rock at Central Waters, 351 Allen St. in Amherst.

Saturday, June 9

2018 Pool Season Opener – 1PM
-The Donald Copps Municipal Pool opens up on Saturday, located at 2442 Sims Ave.

Live Music: Cocktail Meatballs – 7:30 p.m.
-get your fill of acoustic rock at Central Waters, 351 Allen St. in Amherst.

St Peter’s Parish Picnic (June 9-10) – 2PM
-Join this family picnic spanning two days, located at 800 Fourth Ave.

Live Music: Bojo’s Mojo at Guu’s on Main
-Taking influences from The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead, catch Bojo’s Mojo at Guu’s, 1140 Main Street.

Sunday, June 10

Live Music: Brad Sperger Live on the Deck – 2PM
-Held at Bullheads Bar & Grill, catch this act featuring layers of technology combined with music. Located at 3368 Campsite Dr.

World Wide Knit in Public Day – 10AM
-Knit in public and join others. Located at 1009 First St. Ste. D

Let’s Picnic Like it’s 1902! – 11:30 a.m.
-Hosted by the Amherst Opera House, 207 N. Main St. in Amherst. For more information, call 715-321-0122.

Tuesday, June 12

Miller & Mike – 6:30 p.m.
-Catch this live comedy and juggling act at Sentry Theatre, 1800 North Point Dr.

Kids Fishing Clinic (June 12-13) – 5:30 p.m.
-Kids can learn basic fishing skills here, located at 100 Bukolt Ave.

Wednesday, June 13

Live Music: The Jerry Schmitt Band – 6PM
-If you like country music, this is the place to be Wednesday night. Located at PJ’s, 601 N. Michigan Ave.

Live Music: City Band Concert – 7PM
-Catch the city band’s second performance, playing at the Pfiffner Park bandshell.

Thursday, June 14

Live Music: Strange Americans – 6PM
-Part of the Levitt AMP concert series, Strange Americans plays old fashioned rock n’ roll, and will take the Pfiffner Park bandshell stage on Thursday night.

Friday, June 15

Live Music: Galynne & Mark on Drums
-Catch this notable local lineup at the Elbow Room, 1321 Second Street.

MRAE Energy Fair (June 15-17)
-Catch this annual energy fair, located at 7558 Deer Road in Custer. For more information, please call 715-592-6595.

Saturday, June 16

Live Music: Steve and Doris Szydel – 7:30 p.m.
-Catch this cover band as they play Central Waters, 351 Allen St.

Portage County June Dairy Breakfast – 8AM
-Have breakfast on the farm and celebrate all things dairy. Located at 8931 County SS in Amherst Junction.
