City Band to present second concert of the season

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point City Band will present its second concert of the summer season on Wednesday, June 13 at 7:00 PM in the Pfiffner Pioneer Park band shell along the Wisconsin River.
“Locomotion” will be the theme as the band, under the direction of Kathryn Kawleski, celebrates all kinds of movement, motion and transportation with a wide variety of musical selections. Featured numbers will include “The Great Locomotive Chase”, “Liberty Fleet March”. “A Day at Disneyland”, “Duke Ellington in Concert”, “The Beatles: Love”, “Roller Coaster” and “Selections from The Great Race” by Henry Mancini. A highlight of the evening will be the performance of Jack Bullock’s “Five To Go”, featuring several of the band’s saxophonists.
Michele’s Restaurant and Catering of Stevens Point will provide food for purchase before and during the concert. Concerts are free and held Wednesday evenings through August 1. Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the gymnasium at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Avenue, Stevens Point.
