Pacelli boys win State Title in 4×400 relay

The 4×400 relay team of junior Xander Schmitz, senior Hayden Jurgella, senior Andrew Blanker and senior Daniel Mitch won the State Title for Pacelli Catholic High School at the WIAA Division 3 State Meet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2.

The Pacelli boys finished 20th in the team standings with 12 points, while the Pacelli girls tied for 23rd with 11 points.
The 4×200 relay team of Schmitz, Jurgella, Blanker and Daniel Mitch finished third in the preliminaries of the 4×200 relay (1:31.81) to advance to the finals. However, they were disqualified in the finals, where Cambridge (1:29.5) won the State Title over second-place Wild Rose (1:32.2).
The team of Schmitz, Jurgella, Blanker and Daniel Mitch also qualified for state in the 4×400, where they entered as the second seed in the event with a 3:27.16 at Sectionals.
The team finished third in the preliminaries in 3:26.47 to advance to the finals, where they ended up with a time of 3:24.82 to win the State Title over Wild Rose (3:27.62) and the Benton Co-op (3:27.82).

Sophomore Luke Ferro finished seventh in the high jump with a mark of 6-02, which while senior Caleb Miedema of Bangor won the State Title at 6-04.
The 4×100 relay team of Daniel Mitch, Schmitz, junior Richard Zupan and Jurgella finished 11th, as the Pacelli boys totaled 12 points to end up 20th in the team standings, while Cambridge totaled 62 points to win the State Title over Wild Rose (43), Bangor (43) and Rosholt (41).
The Pacelli girls were led by the 4×400 relay team of junior Grace Engebretson, senior Laura Mitch, senior Jenelle Higgins and junior Grace Van Handel, which teamed up to place third at state.
The Cardinals had another relay team reach the podium, as 4×800 team of Engebretson, Higgins, freshman Maya Kunze and Van Handel combined to place fifth in the 4×800 relay.

The 4×200 relay team of freshman Sami Miller, Laura Mitch, Higgins and Van Handel finished eighth to close the scoring for Pacelli, while junior Karah Kluck was 13th in the triple jump.
The Pacelli girls totaled 11 points to tie for 23rd in the team standings, while Benton Co-op (40 points) won the State Title over Algoma (39), Ozaukee (38) and Wausau Newman (38).
