Obituary: Norbert “Nubbs” Pudroski

Norbert “Nubbs” Pudroski, 89, of Stevens Point passed away peacefully at home Wednesday morning June 6, 2018. Gratefully cared for by his wife “Dolly” who stayed with him non-stop in sickness and in health to the end.
Norbert was born May 15, 1929, to August Pudroski and Angela (Platta) in Stevens Point. He attended St. Peters Catholic School. Norbert served in the United States Navy for two tours of duty during the Korean War from 1948-1952 aboard the USS Rochester CA-124, where he was honorably discharged.
Norbert married his hometown sweetheart, Mary Jane Morey September 29, 1952 at St. Stephens Catholic church, they were married for 65 years and member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
Norbert never had idle hands, he built houses with his father and brother, fixed and rode Harley Davidson motorcycles, restored many classic cars including a 1929 Ford station wagon- woody, 1949 Cadillac Fastback and a 1950 Coupe Deville and many more classic cars.
He and his wife were among the Charter members of the Stevens Point Old Car Club and served as the first President and were long time members. Norbert served as vice president of UPIU Local 58 in the mid 1950’s. Member of the Polonia Sno bo’s and past President.
Norbert worked for 39 years for Consolidated Papers-Stevens Point Division, starting out in stock preparation, and advancing to a T3 paper tester.
Dad would take time out from working in his favorite place “the garage” on his many hobbies, to listen and talk with each of his children, neighbors and many friends bestowing upon us, his wisdom and joy of life.
Norbert is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Dolly), and four children: Nadine (Ken) Guilbault, Appleton; Steven (Linda) Pudroski, Stevens Point; Alan (Mary Jo) Pudroski, Plover; Nanci (Jerry) Samuleson, Mosinee. Six grandchildren-Jacob Guilbault, Laurie Colon, Kelly and Cody Pudroski, Dustin and Ryan Samuelson, and three great grandchildren. 2 brothers: Richard Pudroski and Jack Pelton. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Leonard and Dale Pudroski, and three sisters Leona Bolms, Jane Wozniak, and Arlene Mucha.
