Date set for YMCA Point Duathlon

Submitted by the Stevens Point Area YMCA
STEVENS POINT — Over 80 percent of the two trillion dollars spent on health care in the United States each year goes toward treatment of chronic diseases. Chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer can be disabling and cause not only significant pain and distress but decrease your life expectancy and overall quality of life.
Supporting programs like our Livestrong at the YMCA, Diabetes Prevention Program, and Diabetes Management Program activate and build self-management skills for individuals to foster and sustain healthy behaviors known to decrease the risk of developing chronic diseases.“ We encourage everyone to become more active, and be a proponent of your own health and to those around you.
Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a beginner, the Point Duathlon is a great cause and reminder of the importance of physical activity and provides an opportunity to share support to those who are getting their health back on track due to chronic disease” said Lindsay Kruzitski, Director of Wellness and Chronic Disease Prevention/Race Director for the Stevens Point Area YMCA.
