Portage County Tavern League donates hundreds to local causes

STEVENS POINT — Here is a rundown of ongoing activities and contributions from the Portage County Tavern League.

PCTL donates $350 to “Movies in the Park”

The Portage County Tavern League has donated $350 to “Movies in the Park”. (Contributed)

In support of the 2018 “Movies in the Park” Portage County summer series, the Portage County Tavern League has donated $350, which will soon be matched by the Tavern League of Wisconsin.  Movies in the Park provides popcorn, cotton candy, root beer, youth activities & a featured movie the 1st Friday in June, July & August.  Pictured: Steve Zarecki (audio visual), Mary Tepp (Secretary, PCTL), Trisha Steinhorst (Event Coordinator & Chairperson), Don Witkowski and Mike Minger (fundraising support).

PCTL donates $250 to Plover VFW

On April 7, there was a celebration for Vietnam Veteran’s Day, at the Plover VFW.  The Portage County Tavern League recently donated $250 to the Vietnam Veterans Committee, through the Plover VFW Post #10262.  With help from the Tavern League of WI, they will soon receive a matching funds check for another $250.  Pictured(left to right): Barbara Schultz, Sherry Engel, Christine Almanza (PCTL President), Robbie Dunlap & Sherrie Jay.

 

 

PCTL donates $275 to cancer benefit

On Saturday, March 24, Rookie’s Sports Bar hosted a “Kicking Cancer” benefit, in honor of Alysia Makuski-Claussen and Jodi Pingle.  The Portage County Tavern League proudly donated $275, with “matching funds” soon to follow from the Tavern League of WI.  Pictured: Alysia Makuski-Clausen, Christine Almanza, and Jodi Pingel.  The benefit was a huge success & both parties would like to thank all the volunteers & attendees that played a role in it.

 

 

PCTL donates $500 to junior achievement program

On February 11, the Portage County Tavern League proudly hosted a charity bowling tournament at Skipp’s Bowling, to benefit Portage County’s Junior Achievement Program.  It was a beautiful success.  As a result, the program received $500 from the PCTL, and will also be receiving “matching funds” from the Tavern League of Wisconsin.  Pictured: Mary Tepp, (PCTL Secretary); Stephanie Printz, (Junior Achievement Coordinator), and Christine Almanza (PCTL President).
