PORTAGE COUNTY — Motorists can expect to encounter weekday, single lane closures on the US 10 bridges over County E, the Wisconsin River, and the Wisconsin River wetlands, beginning Monday, June 18.

The lane closures are necessary for crews to complete routine maintenance on six bridges. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH through the work zones.

All work is scheduled for completion before the end of the day, Thursday, June 21.  The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and construction status.

Further updates on other projects:

Highway: I-39 and WIS 54 (*updated*)
Locations: I-39 (WIS 54 to North 2nd Street)
Schedule: April 23 to late June 2018
Cost: $7.4 million

Description: Crews will resurface the highways. Improvements include applying a high-friction surface to the I-39 bridges over the Plover River, and to northbound I-39 between Business 51 and the North 2nd Street overpass.

Traffic impacts:

  • Motorists on WIS 54, between Hoover Avenue and Harding Avenue, can expect single lane closures and flagging operations.
  • Motorists on I-39 can expect to encounter single lane closures and speed reductions. Some nighttime ramp closures are possible between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
