A nearly one-month project at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) was completed Friday, June 15, as the floor in Quandt Fieldhouse, the home of the UWSP men’s basketball team, was refinished with a new design.

The project began the week after spring commencement and started with a complete sanding of the floor to remove all layers of finishing. Once completely sanded, minor repairs were made to ensure a solid base for the new design.

The floor was then stained and sealed to create depth inside the arcs and along the baselines. Extensive layout and painting followed.

The main floor was highlighted, and intricate detailing was done to prepare the facility for its multi-use across the athletics department, intramurals and all other uses.

The surface will cure for the next two weeks before it can be utilized. The project in its entirety was completed by Schmidt Custom Floors of Waukesha.
