Archie Sawyer Sr., age 82 formerly of Plover, passed away Wednesday June 13, 2018 in Park Falls under the care of hospice.

A Celebration of Life Service for Archie will be held at Noon on Monday June 18, 2018 at the Plover/Shuda Funeral Home – 2400 Plover Road in Plover. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established at a later date.

Archie was born May 17, 1936 in the Town of Grant, the son of Howard and Buelah (Bemis) Sawyer. He grew up in the Town of Grant and attended local schools. Archie married Mary Getzloff on February 19, 1955 in Plover. The couple lived in the Town of Grant, and Archie had a 35 year career with the Portage County Highway Department. The couple moved to Park Falls in 2006. Archie loved “putzing” in the garage, and always had the 4-wheelers and snowmobiles ready for the grandchildren to use!

Archie is survived by his wife Mary, and their four sons: Archie Jr (Patricia), Summerset; Steven (Shirley), WI Rapids; Ed (Elaine), Plainfield; Daniel (Lynn), WI Rapids. 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Leonard, Ben, and Glen; and one sister Dorothy.
