BUENA VISTA — The name of the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash on Thursday night has been released.
According to police reports, at approximately 7:02 p.m., an Almond resident, now identified as 20-year-old Dylan Heck, was traveling northbound via motorcycle on County Highway J near Sherman Road in the Town of Buena Vista. The bike failed to properly turn and left the roadway.
As a result, the motorcycle and operator struck a utility pole in the west ditch. Heck was pronounced dead at the scene from resulting injuries.
Authorities believe Heck was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and there were no other passengers on the bike at the time. Excessive speed appears to be the contributing factor in this crash, and it remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
Heck was a member of the 2015 Amherst High School football championship team.
