American Legion Post 6 baseball prepares for a busy weekend

STEVENS POINT — American Legion Post 6 Baseball is planning for a busy weekend.
This Thursday is the first day of the 46th annual Firecracker tournament for the Senior Sixers baseball team. The tournament brings in a total of 8 teams for the tournament beginning Thursday at 4:30 PM and ending Sunday afternoon.
Game times for the Senior Sixers are as follows:
-Thursday 7:00 PM vs DC Everest
-Friday 7:30 PM vs Altoona
-Saturday 8:30 PM vs Kimberly
-Sunday Semi-Finals and Championship games.
On June 29, Mayor Mike Wiza and Alderperson Heidi Oberstadt will be throwing the first pitch for the 7:30 PM game. Post 6 Color Guard led by Commander John Adamski will be presenting the nation’s colors.
“As a thank you for the support from our community, there will be a special invite to Bukolt Park neighbors, Sixers players/coaches/board alumni, City Council and City Officials, Police, Sheriff, and Fire Departments, as well as Post 6 Legion Members and Veterans.”
There will be no gate fees for the June 29 7:30 PM game. Various giveaways are planned throughout the weekend, as well.
