Berg sets men’s golf league record

It was a record-setting week of play in the Central Wisconsin Men’s Golf League. Play took place at Foxfire Golf Club in Waupaca Wednesday, June 20, and the lowest individual score in league history was recorded as Jim Berg of Hilltop Too shot a five-under par 65 to lead solid play all the way around.

In the weekly team matches, Hacker Backers had the best results, winning twice by 4-0 scores. Also winning two matches were Hilltop Too and Midwest Hardware Association.

Other top individual rounds came from Scott Frazier with a 73, Tom Habel 75, Jim Brummer and Greg Klug with 76s, Dan Racine and Charlie Spaar at 78, and Scott Krueger at 79.

Best net results had Berg at 59; Frazier, George Klish and Jim Gruba at 67; Klug at 68; Mike Derer at 69; and at even par 70 were Jim Brummer, Jim Mosey and Tom Domaszek.

The team standings currently are:

21.5—ROOKIES

19.0—BADGER HTG/RICE’S PAINT

14.5—TWO HARPS

8.5—PARTNERS PUB

6.0—HILLTOP PUB & GRILL

 

The league will test the always challenging Glacier Wood Golf Course in Iola this week to end the first half of the season.
