STEVENS POINT — A body recovered on Saturday, June 30, in the Wisconsin River at Bukolt Park has been identified.

Police have released the victim’s name, 33-year-old Joletta Lynn Luciano-Bornemann, of North Carolina.

At approximately 4:14 p.m., Portage County Dispatch received a report of a possible drowning near the boat landing at Bukolt Park. Emergency crew responded quickly, including volunteers from Dive Point Scuba in Stevens Point.

After a two-and-a-half hour search, the body of a woman in her 30’s was located and recovered. The victim was suspected to have been visiting from outside of the area.

While no foul play is suspected, the investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
