Bill J. Thompson, age 75, of Stevens Point, died on June 30, 2018 at St Clare’s Hospital in Weston, WI.

Bill was born on February 17, 1943 to the late Harold and Frances (Strausser) Thompson in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up in the Stevens Point area, attended McKinley Grade School, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1961.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army, served with the 120^th Artillery, and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1964.

Bill returned to the Stevens Point area where he became employed with the Copps Corporation. He worked several positions within the warehouse until becoming a driver. While working nights for Copps, Bill worked during the day developing what would become known as the Thompson Mobile Home Park. In addition to the mobile home park, Bill also acquired numerous investment properties throughout his working career. Bill retired from Copps after 42 years of service and eventually sold the mobile home park to enjoy his retirement.

Bill will be remembered for his dedicated nature and appreciation for his family. His drive and determination created a work ethic that was second to none. Bill’s ability to focus on work didn’t keep him from being able to enjoy the amenities life had to offer and the family he was blessed with. Bill had a social nature and also enjoyed the comradery of others; especially at the end of a hard day’s work and with a cold beer. In his earlier years, Bill enjoyed deer hunting and the splendors the natural world had to offer.

He is survived by his son, Troy (Cheryl) Thompson; grandchildren, Eric Budelier, Sam (Michele) Budelier, Thaddeus Budelier, Holly (Jon) Meer, Melissa Budelier, Brett (Becca) Thompson, and Kiana Thompson; siblings, Shirley Ludwig, Jack Thompson, Joan Dargis, Tommy (Marge) Thompson, Marilyn Thompson, Ruth Woodward, Elaine (John) Griffith, Alice (Bob) Mauszycki, Betty Flood, and Bonnie Normington; special friend, Carol Olson; nieces and nephews; and extend family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jane Heartman.

A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Boston Funeral Home. A time of visitation will precede on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
