Jan was born on July 15, 1947, in West Allis where her father, John, owned a tavern and her mother, Anna, was a homemaker. After graduating, Jan worked for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District as an executive secretary.  Jan and Joe married in the Spring of 1976 and moved to Rosholt in 1982. In 1987, she devoted herself to being a foster parent by giving a loving home to many children. She retired in 2004.  Jan loved her family and friends and always remembered them with cards, calls, visits, and favorited desserts and dishes. Jan was an avid cruciverbalist.

Jan will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; children, Joanna, Wendy (Matt) Janssen, Jeffrey (Sandy), Gregory (Susan); her grandchildren, Jason (Missy), Ryan, Amanda (Lance) Meyer, Devan, Adam Janssen, Alex, and Cassidy; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Ethan Meyer, and Wesley; brother, Dennis (Kathy) Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Gorishek, and her mother, Anna (Verbik) Fina.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 11:00 A.M.- 3:00 P.M. at Rookies Banquet Hall and Park Ridge Restaurant in Stevens Point.  In lieu of flowers, Jan asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org and Humane Society of Portage County at www.hspcwi.org
