STEVENS POINT — Planning commission members will ask redevelopment authority officials to green-light the purchase of properties at 1013 Second Street and 1016 Third Street, better known as the “Belke properties”.
In order to do so, the city had to first transfer the purchase amount from TIF (Tax Increment Financing) District #5 to TIF District #6. The purchase amount of $300,000 will go towards redevelopment of the aforementioned areas and surrounding block. The city recently purchased the former Jerry’s Auto at 1105 Second St.
According to city documents, this move will allow for a “…more planned and cohesive development opportunity.”
As always, final approval of such a move will be sought through the next city council meeting.
