Project Fresh Clothes to issue vouchers in place of clothes this year

For SPN
STEVENS POINT –Project Fresh Clothes is changing things up for this year’s event, as they will issue qualifying K-12 students with vouchers to purchase clothing from local second-hand stores.
In the past, Project Fresh Clothes helped children from the community go back to school prepared for success by distributing clothes for students in need. Twelve years ago, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church made the decision to continue this long-standing project, originated by a girl scout.
The organization has collected and sorted articles of school aged clothing, mostly through the summer months and then distributed the clothing in conjunction with United Way’s Project Fresh Start to about 1,000 students.
“We will be collecting monetary donations for Project Fresh Clothes to pay for the student’s vouchers, “said organizer Cathy Martin. “We will not be collecting clothing so please share this information with people you know who have donated in the past.”
Any monetary donations marked Project Fresh Clothes can be sent to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 600 Wilshire Blvd, Stevens Point, WI 54481. Donations are tax deductible. If you would like more information, contact Cathy Martin at [email protected].
The voucher distribution will take place on August 18 at P.J. Jacobs Jr. High along with the distribution of school supplies through United Way’s Project Fresh Start. To register for both events—form and instructions can be found online at http://www.volunteersrock.org/pfs.
