For the City Times

STEVENS POINT — St. Michael’s Foundation approved $32,204 in programs and services that support patients served by Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital, Ascension Medical Group as well as the community at large for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018.

The following grants were awarded:

-The Emergency Department of St. Michael’s Foundation will receive a Lucas 3 Compression Device.
(During a cardiac arrest, this portable compression device provides high quality chest compressions with minimal interruptions or pauses so that effective, lifesaving actions are initiated.)

-Ministry Dental Center will receive a Soredex Digora Optime for image scanning to replace a nonfunctional
model.

-St. Michael’s Cancer Center will distribute patient education books “Cancer What You Need to Know” as
a resource for newly diagnosed cancer patients.

-Partnering with Portage County Breastfeeding Coalition, St. Michael’s Foundation will fund a private,
portable breastfeeding station that can be used at area events.

-In conjunction with Portage County Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Coalition, cable gun locks will be purchased for distribution for patients coming to Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital Emergency Department or Urgent Care.

-An automated external defibrillator (AED) was awarded to St. Joseph’s Parish, Stevens Point, as part of the Cardiac Arrest Survival Team (CAST) Fund, which provides AED’s in community buildings where large crowds gather in an effort to increase our community’s cardiac arrest survival rate.

All of the above funding would not be possible were it not for the generosity and support of loyal donors in our community whose philanthropy is essential to providing health care services, initiatives, or resources that will serve those in the Stevens Point and surrounding areas who are most in need. St. Michael’s Foundation is most grateful to partner with our generous benefactors to make a difference in our community.
