The Central Wisconsin Racing Association (CWRA) Stars to Legends Tour as presented by Smiley’s Old Time Diner, is heading into the second half of its season with the next event, the Marlin Walbeck Classic race Saturday, July 21, at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells.

The highlight of the evening will be the running of two 30-Lap Feature events in honor of Walbeck, star of 1960s to 1970s Wisconsin short-track racing.

The two 30-lap Feature format is in recognition of the number Walbeck raced with throughout his career.

Walbeck was one of the original racers barnstorming the entire state of Wisconsin racing and winning often on both paved and dirt oval tracks.

The CWRA Stars to Legends Tour Super Late Model group should be 20 cars strong for the event, with season-points leader Mark Mackesy of Wausau the leading entrant.

Following in the point standings are Jeff Weinfurter of Wisconsin Rapids, Darek Gress of Neillsville, Darren Jackson of Wisconsin Rapids, Jesse Bernhagen of Stevens Point, Rachal Kallas of Winneconne, Brian Henry of Omro, Derrick Van Dreel of Wisconsin Rapids, Frank Nitzke of Berlin and Monte Gress of Neillsville, who will all also be racing on the night.

As additional incentive for all drivers, Wayne Lensing’s Paradise Lounge, located at his Shangri-La Campground adjacent to the speedway, will put up an extra $500 over and above the announced purse pay-out.

Other Divisions racing on the night include INEX Legends, Late Models, Sportsman and Midwest Dash cars. Qualifying is set for 4:30 p.m., with racing set to start at 6 p.m.

Dells Raceway Park is located three miles west on State Highway 16 after exiting I-90 at exit 85.
