Rapids, Antigo share WVLL Title

The Wisconsin Rapids and Antigo American Legion Baseball teams closed out the final week of the regular season by earning a share of the Wisconsin Valley Legion League (WVLL) Title.

Rapids and Antigo each finished 10-4 in the WVLL to win the Conference Title over Plover (9-5), Marshfield (9-5) and Wausau (9-5).

Entering this week, Marshfield (9-4), Wisconsin Rapids (9-4) and Antigo (9-4) were tied at the top of the conference standings, ahead of Plover (8-5) and Wausau (9-5).

The Black Sox won 9-7 at Marshfield in their regular-season finale Monday, July 16, to leave both teams 9-5, while Antigo won 13-1 over Merrill Monday night to clinch at least a share of the WVLL Title.

Rapids followed with an 11-1 win at Stevens Point Tuesday, July 17, to earn a share of the Conference Title with Antigo.
