The bus will be a vital resource in transporting youth, teens and adults in YMCA programs

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Area YMCA has a new 14-passenger bus.

According to a press release, the YMCA has given thanks to the thoughtfulness and generosity of Annette and Jon Vandehey, Mid-State Truck Service, Patty and John Noel, Jerry Fahrner, Rivers Edge Campground, and Mary and Bob Berard, and design work provided by Bushman Sign.

The bus will expose area youth and teens to new experiences, assist with transportation barriers for adaptive recreation athletes, transport our seniors to activities within the community and so much more!

Transportation costs can limit programming outside of the Y’s four walls. In addition, transportation can be a barrier to participation by members of our community. By having our own bus, we can save money, attract additional participants and create new experiences.  From field trips, to sporting events, adventure outings, and community service projects, the bus will be used heavily year-round.

The YMCA is grateful to our donors for investing in our community.  For more information on summer camp, teen programs, adaptive recreation or active older adults, please visit www.spymca.org.
