Margaret Ann (Marge) Cera, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at North Haven Assisted Living Center in Stevens Point where she was a resident since 2011. Marge was under the care of Ascension Ministry Home Care Hospice since June 2018.

Marge was born on April 11, 1931 in Stevens Point to the late Walter and Clara Weir (Winiecki).

She attended St. Peter’s Parochial School and St. Joseph’s Academy where she graduated in 1948.

Marge married Wayne J. Cera on June 11, 1955 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. After their marriage they settled in Milwaukee, WI where she was later employed at Sentry Insurance and DePaul Rehabilitation Center/Hospital.

Marge moved back to Stevens Point after the death of her husband, Wayne, in 1987.

Marge became an Associate to the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis in 2001. She was a Religious Volunteer at the Federal Correction Institute at Oxford with Sister Julianna Stencel.

Marge lived a strong Catholic faith. She was an active member of St. Joseph Parish where she continually challenged herself and others to grow in their faith. Before her illness she was a member of the RCIA program, Circle of Faith, sang with the Resurrection Choir, St. Anne’s Society, and was a Liturgical Minister serving as a Reader.

Marge was the family historian. Her passion was researching the genealogy of the Weir/Golla families. She spent numerous hours of research compiling history entitled the Weir/Golla Chronicles which she started in 2004. She dedicated her research history to her sister, Rose Mary and Rose Mary’s children and grandchildren.

Marge loved nature, especially the Fall season. She was instrumental in planting the first Associate tree on the grounds at Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis in Stevens Point. She loved collecting flowers and leaves with good friend, Judy Bemke. They were represented by beautiful cards which Marge sent family and friends for birthdays and special occasions.

Marge is preceded in death by her husband Wayne, mother, and father.

Marge is survived by her sister, Rose Mary (Eugene) Golla. Although Marge did not have her own children, she had a special place in her heart for nieces, Linda (Brian) Piotrowski, Margaret (Jeff) Kurzynski, Cathy (Dan) Zblewski; and nephews, godchild, David (Peggy) Golla, Robert (Jackie) Golla, & godchild, Dennis (Jan) Cera. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many near and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Stanchik presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

Marge’s family would like to thank the North Haven staff (especially Megan), Ascension Ministry Hospice staff (especially Patty, R.N. and Donna, Home Health Aide), and Lakeland Care staff for the care, love, and compassion which was generously displayed to Marge over the past few months/years. Marge had numerous friends too many to mention which visited her over the years. The family is very thankful for these visits. She especially loved her weekly visits with special friend, Myrna Horgan. Myrna, thank you, she loved those vanilla shakes.

God Needed an Angel in Heaven – God needed an angel in heaven to stand at the Saviors feet; His choice must be the rarest a lily pure and sweet. He gazed upon the mighty throne then stopped and picked the best, our child was His chosen one with Jesus she’s now at rest.

Marge, you touched many lives and your absence will be felt for a long time. Auntie Margie, we love you very much, you will always be held near in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Parkinson Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
