STEVENS POINT — On Saturday, August 11th, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin will host their 14th annual fundraising event, Taste of the Town, at Pfiffner Park.
Wine and beer samplings will begin at 4:30 p.m., with food samplings from 21 local establishments starting at 5 p.m. There will be several new food vendors in attendance this year including Wiza’s BabyCakes, Smokehouse Barbeque, and Muse at Sentry.
In addition, there will be a silent auction and champagne raffle with prizes from Lee Ayers Jewelers, Furniture and Appliance Mart, Holiday Inn, The Green Bay Packers, and many others. Also at the event will be the 2nd annual Rings and Bling bottle toss, in which participants pay $20 for three rings in an attempt to win beer, wine, or liquor in a non-traditional game of ring toss.
Each participant of the Bottle Toss will be entered into a drawing to win the grand prize of a Thomas Dailing Designs Pendant or a $2,000 gift certificate for an original Thomas Dailings Designs jewelry. Live music will be provided by the Northwoods Men.
Tickets are $45 in advance at www.bigimpact.org or can be purchased at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office, Ski’s Meat Market and Lee Ayers Jewelers. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $55. 100 percent of the proceeds from this event support children in Portage County in positive, one-to-one mentoring relationships.
