STEVENS POINT — City officials sent through changes to the ordinance involving the multi-space kiosk zones, including updates to No Parking zones.
The changes include portions of Portage Street, Briggs Street, College Avenue, Reserve Street, and Phillips Street near the university. The amendments also create a reserved parking restriction along Phillips Street between College Avenue and Briggs Street.
“The reason why we are having a special meeting for this is because we want to get this in place before school gets back in session,” said Mayor Mike Wiza to council members. “I think we worked out all of the bugs.”
According to the ordinance, the parking will give local residents affected by the metered expansion with a dedicated area for on-street parking. In many cases, streets with prior No Parking restrictions were repealed.
