Stanley Street road diet project receives no bids

STEVENS POINT — As of Tuesday’s deadline, there have been zero official bids made for the Stanley Street re-striping project.
City officials voted to solicit bids for the project in June, with an Aug. 7 deadline. As of today, two contractors took out the necessary documents to file, but neither have made an official bid.
While this may seem like a major setback for the project, the reasons why have yet to be revealed, and could be as simple as seasonal timing, scheduling conflicts, or other technical issues. This will not affect a possible decision to install a four-way stop at the corner of Minnesota Avenue and Stanley Street.
On Monday, Aug. 13, the reasons and specifics will likely be revealed during the Public Works meeting.
