STEVENS POINT — A group of Marines lead by brothers Ray and Stan Potocki began meeting in Stevens Point in 1968 to begin the process of organizing a Detachment.
In January 1969, Detachment 350 was Chartered with twenty original members including members (pictured) who are currently in the Detachment; Ray Potocki, Stan Potocki, Bob Pallen,Bill Nuck, Bob Wnuk, and Florian Chojnacki.
Today, our Detachment has sixty three members. The mission of our Detachment is to raise funds through cookouts and collecting donations from giving away Marine Corps Roses to purchase food baskets annually for needy veterans and their families. In addition, we donate to local Veteran charities and other needy charity organizations.
The Detachment is active in many local events; providing Color Guard at parades, recognizing Eagle Scouts with a certificate of accomplishment, attend funerals of fallen Marines when requested by the family, provide flag raising when requested, and donate time and funds to Salvation Army All Military challenge each year.
The Marine Corps League is a non-profit Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) Veterans Organization. The Mission is to join in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving traditions. We promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps by banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who
have been honorably discharged from that service.
We promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy. We voluntarily aid and render assistance to all Marines, FMF Corpsmen, Chaplains, former Marines, and Associates. We perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps by observing the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines. We are still looking for a few good men and women, if interested in joining our Detachment please email or call/text Rollie Johnson ([email protected] or 715-252-3339.
In honor of Central Wisconsin Detachment’s upcoming fiftieth anniversary, during 2018 our Detachment is holding special Rose Fund drives and requesting monetary donations to purchase clothing and other needed items for Veterans at Wisconsin
Veterans Home in King. Donations can be sent to our Paymaster Ron Borski, 8366 County Road B, Amherst WI 54406-9003. The tax exempt number is 47-0883297.
