Obituary: Steve H. Kylen
Steve H. Kylen age 84, of Stevens Point passed away Friday August 10, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Private family services will be held. Shuda Funeral Service of Stevens Point and Plover are assisting the family.
Steve was born December 29, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Carl and Ellen (Borjesson) Kylen. He married Francine Quinn on October 15, 1955 in Chicago, the couple settled in the area and raised their family. Steve worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 2000. The couple moved to Plover in 1977 living there until 1988. From 1988 until his retirement the couple lived in various locations including Hagerstown, MD. Upon Steve’s retirement the couple moved to Stevens Point. Steve and Francine enjoyed square dancing together, and were foodies, he liked to read, served as a scout master in Chicago, and loved adventures.
Steve is survived by his wife of 63 years Fran, and their four children: Mary Ellen Higgins, MN; James Kylen, Oshkosh; John Kylen (Lynda Adwell), KS; Peg (David) Hanson, Stevens Point. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; his sister Margaret Howe, FL.
Steve’s family wishes to thank the caring medical, nursing and CNA staff at Ascension St. Michaels-Stevens Point and Marshfield Medical Center; specifically Dr. Abuzaid Medani and Dr Milind Shah.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or their favorite charity.
