One dead in fatal Stockton crash

STOCKTON — A local woman has suffered fatal injuries as a result of a Sunday afternoon car accident.
According to DOT reports, an accident was reported at approximately 12:47 p.m. on Sunday which took the life of a 46-year-old Stevens Point woman. The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Stockton on U.S. Highway 10 at mile marker 232.
The driver of a Hyundai Elantra had attempted to cross Highway 10 into the entrance of County Materials Corporation by driving onto the median, and in doing so traveled into the path of an eastbound Chrysler Town & Country van. The Hyundai Elantra was struck on the driver side by the Chrysler Town & Country van.
Both vehicles came to a rest in the grass median, according to reports.
The driver of the Hyundai Elantra, a 46-year-old Stevens Point woman, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the Chrysler Town & Country van, a 74-year-old Rothschild man, was treated at the scene of the accident.
The passenger of the Hyundai, a 68-year-old Stevens Point woman, was transported via ambulance to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. The two passengers in the Chrysler, a 73-year-old Rothschild woman, and a 69-year-old Wausau woman, were taken to Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries,
This accident is currently under investigation and all names are being withheld pending notification of the families. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident. All parties involved were believed to be wearing seatbelts during the crash.
