Obituary: Howard Arthur Miller
Howard Arthur Miller passed away unexpectedly at home on July 24, 2018.
Howard was born on November 24, 1949 to Lucille Althea Miller (Sourbeck) and Howard Floyd Miller at home in
Nekoosa, Juneau County, WI. Howard grew up in Nekoosa and Plover, and joined the Navy in 1968. When Howard was stationed in California he met and married Barbara (Kaiser). Howard took great pride in serving his Country and proudly served on the USS Coral Sea, USS Enterprise, and the USS Carl Vinson. Howard fought in the Vietnam War and was deployed out to sea during Desert Storm.
His last duty in the Navy was Security at NAS Whidbey. In 1997 he was medically retired after 21.5 respectful years, where he settled down in Oak Harbor, WA on Whidbey Island with his wife and four children. After a long wait Howard received a second chance at life in 2015 with a new heart – he so appreciated his donor and family. Howard also gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
Howard is survived by his wife Barbara, one son Marc (Stephanie) Suamico, WI, three daughters Bryanna (Jason), Carrie (Eric), and Melissa all of Oak Harbor, WA; two sisters Althea Rubey, Plover, WI, and Sue (Joe) Gracyalny Pulaski, WI. Further survived by eight grandchildren Traci, Masyn, Jayde, Aiden, Abigail, Elizabeth, Raelyn and Karsyn – all whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Lucille and Howard Miller, and his mother- in-law and father-in-law Connie and Ron Kaiser. A celebration of life occurred on Saturday, August 18 at the ocean on Whidbey Island with Military Honors.
