Born and raised in Elm Grove, Wis., Berens studied journalism at UW-Madison. He covered the presidential election for MTV and has hosted, written and produced several comedy news programs, sketch comedy bits and entertainment shows. His “Co-Anchor Confidential” pitch was selected at the Just For Laughs Festival and sold to LOL, a network partnership between comedian Kevin Hart and Lionsgate.
Berens turned his experiences in comedy and journalism into the “Manitowoc Minute” video series, in which he plays a character with an over-the-top Wisconsin accent. Published regularly on Facebook and YouTube since June 2017, the series features a few comedic headlines and interesting items for sale on Craigslist. It has had millions of views and is featured on the comedy video website, www.funnyordie.com, along with his other comedic mashups.
