Police: Intruder stabbed by resident during forced entry

STEVENS POINT — More details have come out regarding an early morning stabbing incident.
According to authorities, early this morning at approximately 4:22 a.m., Stevens Point police responded to reports of a man laying on the sidewalk on Second Street and Portage Street, yelling for help. Officers on the scene quickly determined that the man had “significant” stab wounds to his neck and arm.
Reports indicate that the man had attempted to forcibly enter an apartment located on the 900 block of Second Street. He was allegedly trying to located a woman, who was not present inside of the residence.
However, the man confronted a 33-year-old woman who resided at the apartment, and an altercation ensued. During this, the woman armed herself with a knife, and used it on the suspected perpetrator, leaving him with multiple stab wounds. The man then fled the residence, where officers soon located him.
He was taken by ambulance to a medical facility for injuries, including a loss of blood. The woman was transported by officers to receive treatment of injuries sustained during the altercation.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released by local authorities at this time.
