Obituary: Clarence T. Guzman
January 26, 1933 – September 29, 2018
Clarence T. Guzman, age 85, of Plover, Wisconsin, died Saturday, September 29, 2018 of complications due to Parkinson’s disease, at the Atrium in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Clarence was born on January 26, 1933 in Stevens Point, the son of Frank and Theresa (Grzywacz) Guzman.
He attended St. Peter’s Elementary and graduated in 1951, from P.J. Jacob’s High School. Clarence served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1953 to 1955 and with the Wisconsin Army National Guard from 1955 through 1962 serving at Ft. Lewis, Tacoma, Washington during the Berlin crisis.
On September 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to Delores Wanta at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Clarence was a truck driver and worked at Point Bakery, Lullabye’s, Steel King, Eatmore Products “Budweiser” and Koch & Klemm Tank Lines.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, Catholic order of Foresters and the American Legion. Clarence had his own Polka Band, “The Jolly Polka Dots”. Delores and Clarence enjoyed polka music, dancing, camping (“Have camper will travel” was his motto), attending numerous Polka Fests and visiting family.
Clarence is survived by; his wife of 63 years, Delores; their six children, Karen (Craig) Rahm of Stevens Point, Cliff Guzman of Bergland, MI., JoAnn (David) Liss of Waukesha, Gerald (Cindy) Guzman of Arbor Vita, Marvin (Robin) Guzman of Ammon, ID. and Tina (Dewey) Reagan of Venice, FL., 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; sister Delores (Clarence) Bruski; sister-in-law, Joanna Guzman; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; siblings, Joseph (Vicky) Guzman, John Guzman, Eleanor (Chester) Niemczyk, Evelyn (Gregory) Klish and infant brother, Chester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Stevens Point. Rev. Arul Joseph V. will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7: 00 p.m. at the Pisarski Funeral Home Stevens Point and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the St. Faustina room at the church. American Legion ritual at 6:30 p.m. Moose ritual at 6:45 p.m. and concluding with a parish rosary combined with the Catholic Order of Foresters at 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
