Clarice Gloria (Halverson) Christensen, age 90, died Tuesday, October 02, 2018, after suffering a stroke on September 23rd.

Clarice was born March 17, 1928, in the town of Alban to Gustav and Clara M (Dobbe) Halverson.  Being born on St Patrick Day entitled her to claim an Irish heritage once a year and celebrating the day was always a special event.  She also claimed green as her favorite color year round.

Her elementary education took place in a one room school house in the town of Alban where she had the same teacher, Mr. Martin, for six years.  Later, she graduated from Rosholt High School in 1945.  After graduation she worked a variety of jobs in Chicago and Minneapolis but always returned home to the farm she loved.  From 1947 to 1952 she worked at Hardware Mutual Insurance (Sentry Insurance) in Stevens Point.

She met her husband Bob at the Rosholt Fair in 1946 and they were married five years later on May 19, 1951, at Alban Lutheran Church.  He proposed just seven days before the wedding while on leave from the Air Force; then immediately departed for Guam where he spent the first 18 months of their marriage.

Attending the Rosholt Fair became an annual tradition passed on to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom they loved so dearly.  Clarice visited the fair once again this year with many of them by her side.

During their marriage they lived in Waupaca, Merrill, Kimberly, Hudson and Eau Claire before moving in 2010 to Stevens Point to be closer to family.

Clarice was a great cook and baker.  Her lefse was a special treat and she took great pride in rolling it thinner than most.  She also baked lots of pies and goodies.  If you stopped in for a visit the coffee pot was usually on and she welcomed you with a kind smile, quick wit and a twinkle in her eye!

Survivors include 3 children, Noreen (Richard) Bartosh of Wisconsin Rapids, Lee (Sue Keil) Christensen of Batavia, IL and Dale (Sue Hintz) Christensen of Stevens Point; Grandchildren, Eric (Alyssa) Bartosh, Kristen (David) George, Andrew (Andrea) Bartosh, Dan (Nichole) Christensen, Sarah (Tyler) Brauhn, Catherine Christensen, Kyle Christensen, and Kari Christensen; great grandchildren, Drew, Brynn, Hollis, Alison, Holden, Leo, Ida, Mae, Jack and Wesley.  She is also survived by her sister, Joan Larson; brother-in-law Donald (Janice) Christensen and sisters in law Betty Kropilnicki and Dorothy Inderdahl; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on April 14, 2018; her parents; and siblings, Herbert Halverson, Evelyn Raab, Elvira Colrud, Phyllis Halverson; and 3 siblings that died in infancy.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM, on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1410 Rogers St, Stevens Point, WI. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 7th from 1:00- 4:00 PM at Boston Funeral Home, Stevens Point and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Alban Cemetery, Portage County.

Memorials may be made to: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1410 Rogers St, Stevens Point WI  54481, Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W Grand Ave., Eau Claire WI 54703 or the charity of your choice.

Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
