New sign up site for Stevens Point Salvation Army kettle campaign
For the City Times
STEVENS POINT – The Salvation Army in Stevens Point has a new and improved on-line system for signing up for Red Kettle campaign bell ringing shifts in 2018. “Register to Ring” brings ease of use and better access to bell ringing schedules at RegistertoRing.com
“The new Salvation Army website for bell ringing management provides a seamless platform for all Salvation Army Volunteer programs through a single gateway,” said Bob Quam, Salvation Army Hope Center Director of Operations. “I’m eager to implement the new system combining all Salvation Army volunteering into a single, easy to use web-based program,” he added.
Go to the RegistertoRing.com page and create a volunteer account with the Salvation Army. Then it’s as simple as picking the zip code or city you wish to ring and the times of the shifts you wish to ring bells. You will need an e-mail address to create an account and text reminders are available. You can also call the Salvation Army to sign-up for bell ringing shifts, 715-341-2437.
The Red Kettle campaign runs from November 9 to December 24 with shifts from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday at 10 locations in Portage County. The Salvation Army in Stevens Point hopes to raise at least $200,000 this Christmas season to help sustain the vital programs and services that help people in need in their daily struggles — and donations of time are accepted as gratefully as donations of money.
One of the immediate challenges of the 2018 Red Kettle Campaign is the loss of one of the long-time Salvation Army bell ringing locations. With the closing of the K-Mart store on the north side of Stevens Point, a key location for donations has been lost.
“Reaching out to those in need by volunteering to ring bells or serve warm meals is a wonderful way to connect with the community, to give back, to share blessings, and to be blessed in return,” said Jared Redfield, Salvation Army Hope Center Advisory Board Chair.
