STEVENS POINT – Scott Sankey was presented an award recognizing him as “Moose of the Year” for Moose Family Center #1572 at a fund raiser held recently at the lodge.
Among the activities he has participated in to be considered for the award are the Fourth of July and holiday parades, the Moose concession stand during the UWSP Homecoming and providing Christmas baskets for people and families in need within the Stevens Point area.
He, along with Moose friends, added another community service event by helping out with the meal for the Down Syndrome of Wisconsin inaugural walk recently held in Wausau. He is also frequently on hand to assist with functions in the lodge’s reception area and social quarters.
This recognition also makes him eligible for the Wisconsin State “Moose of the Year”.
The Moose Family Center #1572 recently received an award with an ‘Honorable Mention’ as as one of the best Community Service Lodges in the country for the 2017-2018 Moose Calendar Year.
As the Moose Family Center continues to celebrate their Centennial, more activities are planned. The ‘Women of the Moose’ will hold a flea market aptly titled “Bullwinkle’s Bazaar” on Oct. 20. The WOTM is also hosting a Charcoal Painting event on Nov. 17; see our website www.moose1572.com for details, stop in or call.
