Retired teachers’ book sale returns Oct. 17-20
STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers’ Association (SPARTA) will hold its fall book sale Wednesday, Oct. 17, to Saturday, Oct. 20, on the first floor of the Children’s Museum Building, 1100 Main St., Stevens Point.
The hours of the sale are noon to 7 p. m., Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.
SPARTA would like to thank Michele Patrykus from Book Isle for a large donation of a variety of books including westerns and science fiction. Book World also donated new books that can be found in the Priced Area. The Priced Area has been restocked and repriced and has more Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder books. The nonfiction room has a new look with six more donated bookcases.
This sale contains a large selection of children’s and young adult fiction books and teacher materials that can be found in the fiction room.
This sale will again be held in two areas separated by the main hallway leading to Main Street at the front of the building and a city parking lot to the back. Nonfiction, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, albums, sheet music and the Priced Area are located in one room and fiction, children’s, parenting, teacher materials and puzzles are in rooms across the hall.
Children’s books remain 25 cents for softcover and 50 cents for hardcover. Most adult books are $1 or less. The Priced Area holds fiction and nonfiction and higher priced children’s books. Prices are $3 and up and are based on a portion of current value.
A $5 bag sale will be held Saturday. Items can also be purchased individually.
SPARTA will once again award two scholarships endowed through the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin. Profits also fund grants to community organizations that provide services to the elderly, children and their families.
