McDill and Roosevelt Teachers Receive Mandana Bliss Award

STEVENS POINT — Three teachers have been awarded the Mandada Bliss Award by Stevens Point Area Public School students. Jami Stuettgen, Heather Wayerski, and Renee Matuszewski.
Stuettgen a third-grade teacher at McDill Elementary School, was presented the award by two of her students, Madison Fischer and Claire Lewallen. They cited her ability to teach to make a difference for her students and her colleagues, “putting a smile on everyone’s face” as the main reason she deserved recognition. Stuettgen is in her 25th year teaching with the district.
Roosevelt student, Hannah Faust, presented Heather Wayerski, kindergarten teacher the award. “She is always silly and nice,” she said. “When I was sad, she would cheer me up.” Wayerski is in her tenth year with the District.
Roosevelt student, Ayla Carriveau, presented, Renee Matuszewski, fifth-grade teacher, the award. “She plans activities for that have created a positive classroom for us built on teamwork,” said Carriveau. “She has a great deal of empathy and goes out of her way to help her students”. Matuszewski is in her third year teaching with the district.
Each month students have the opportunity to recognize a staff member that has profoundly influenced their educational experience. The award is given in the name of Mandana Bliss, the first teacher in the Stevens Point Area Public School District.
