The WIAA Boys and Girls Cross Country State Meet took place at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids Saturday, Oct. 27.

The third-ranked Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) boys cross country team placed fifth in Division 1 with 169 points, as second-ranked Neenah (122) knocked off top-ranked and defending State Champion Middleton (131), followed by fifth-ranked Germantown (162) and fourth-ranked Madison West (165).

In the Division 1 girls race, SPASH freshman Roisin Willis finished fourth overall, and the 10th-ranked Panthers finished 11th in the team standings.

The third-ranked Rosholt boys finished as the WIAA Division 3 State Runner-up, as the team totaled 111 points to finish behind top-ranked La Crosse Aquinas (90), while senior Adam Rzentkowski placed second in the Division 3 race behind three-time defending State Champion David Vannucchi of Onalaska Luther.

For the Division 3 girls, seventh-ranked Rosholt finished fourth, as top-ranked Lancaster (74) won the State Title over third-ranked Auburndale (91), while fifth-ranked Dodgeland and Rosholt both had 147 points, but Dodgeland won the tiebreaker to place third.

Complete coverage will appear in this week’s Portage County Gazette.
