STEVENS POINT – A sixth grader from Kennedy Elementary School was honored by the Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club last week.

As part of Youth Appreciation Month, the Optimist Club honored Bailey Keen, of Kennedy Elementary school with the October Youth of the Month Award. Bailey is the daughter of Christie and Jonathan Keen.

Keen was nominated by her teacher because of her positive attitude and for her hard work.

“She always has a smile on her face, never complains and is always displaying optimism,” said teacher Tessa Cash-Wenninger. “Bailey is a role model for other students in her class and at Kennedy School. The younger students always look up to her, stated , her teacher at Kennedy School”.

The Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has been honoring local youth through Youth Appreciation for many years. Youth Appreciation is the most popular program sponsored by clubs throughout Optimist International, with more than 2,000 clubs participating each year.
