Amherst’s Wise, Pacelli’s Engebretson compete at State Meet

Senior Adam Wise of the Amherst High School boys cross country team and senior Grace Engebretson of the Pacelli Catholic High School girls cross country team both competed at the WIAA Division 3 State Meet at The Ridges Golf Course Saturday, Oct. 27.

Wise competed at state Saturday for the third time, after he finished 79th at state as a sophomore in 2016 and 50th as a junior last year, and then qualified as an individual this season.

Wise was in 22nd place at the one-mile mark Saturday and in 23rd at the two-mile mark, before he finished 27th with a time of 17:11.1

Engebretson also advanced to state as an individual qualifier to earn her third trip, after she finished 84th at state as a freshman and 87th as a sophomore

Engebretson was in 50th-place at the one-mile mark Saturday, and in 63rd at the two-mile mark, before she finished 76th with a time of 21:37.6.
